Commemorating October 7, 2023
Sunday, October 6, 2024 • 4 Tishrei 5785
4:00 PM - 5:30 PMLed by Israeli Americans, we will commemorate the first anniversary of the October 7th tragedy, the worst in our Jewish history since the Shoah, the Catastrophe, the Holocaust. The wider Jewish community is welcome to the Temple Israel Sanctuary to process all that has happened in the last year, beginning on October 7, 2023. Israel faced an unprecedented crisis, a day that would forever change its narrative and be engraved in the hearts of many. Palestinian militant groups, led primarily by Hamas, launched a wide-scale operation named "Operation al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel from the Gaza Strip. Since then, anti-Israel and anti-Jewish sentiment has spread, affecting every aspect of our lives. We will affirm our collective trauma and collective grief. We will hold space for one another, respectfully across all differences, as we mourn all that has been lost. Pre-registration is requested for security.
Factual information about the event taken from the October 7 Memorial website.
