Capital Campaign
Healing Our Sacred Space: Capital Campaign
Preserving Our Home. Building Our Future.
For 45 years, Temple Israel Alameda has been a sacred gathering space—spiritually, culturally, and educationally. Now, we’re launching a critical capital campaign to address long-deferred maintenance and ensure our synagogue remains vibrant and welcoming for generations to come.

Your employer may match your gift—even past contributions like the dues you’ve already paid this year. Check with your HR or Employee Benefits Office to find out. If your gift is eligible, please let us know—most companies don’t share employee names, and we’d love the opportunity to thank you!
Why Now?
Our building needs care we can no longer delay. This campaign will:
- Ensure safety and structural integrity
- Modernize systems for efficiency and accessibility
- Create a more inclusive and welcoming environment
Key Projects
Based on expert assessments and community input, we plan to prioritize:
- Roof and skylight replacement
- HVAC upgrades (heat pumps for efficiency)
- Security enhancements beyond current grant coverage
- Repairing dry rot and repainting the exterior
- Flooring replacement in the social hall
- Torah repairs and sofer services
- Fencing replacement (where not grant-covered)
- Replacing all fluorescent lights and fixtures with LED ones
These will be phased over 1–3 years based on urgency, feasibility, and permits.
Campaign Goals
We aim to raise $500,000 through:
- Existing Building Fund
- 105th Anniversary campaign gifts
- IRS Employee Retention Tax Credit (already received)
- Employer matches
- Your generosity!
