Our office is normally open

  • Monday and Tuesday from Noon until 2PM
  • Wednesday through Friday: from 9AM until 2 PM

The office is not open during Federal and Jewish holidays

Rabbi Allen B. Bennett is generally in the office:
   10:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Wednesdays,
   9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Thursdays,
   9:00 A.M.. to 4:00 P.M. on Fridays,
   and Sundays during Hebrew and Religious School hours.  

Because the Rabbi may be involved in meetings, other appointments, tutoring students, etc., during the times he is in the building, it is best to make an appointment before coming in.

Director of Congregational Learning, Mindy Myers, is generally in the office: 
3:00 PM to 5:30PM on Wednesdays,
9:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M on Sundays.

Temple Isral is located at 3183 Mecartney Road, in Alameda, California, 94502

Coming from Berkeley or San Francisco, going South on I-880 toward SAN JOSE toward ALAMEDA. (Continue to Right fork toward Alameda, on the exit road, 0.39 miles)

Take the HIGH STREET exit. Turn RIGHT onto HIGH ST. Go 0.44 miles (ATTENTION: Turn at the 4-way stop light, AFTER the large green sign with arrow to Alameda; do NOT turn onto the curved road 30 feet before the big intersection, just before the sign)

Cross over the bridge and immediately turn LEFT onto FERNSIDE BLVD. Go 1.14 miles

At end of Fernside (after two stop signs and one traffic light), turn LEFT, go over BAY FARM ISLAND BRIDGE/ CA-61. 0.21 miles. Stay in the right lane.

Immediately after the bridge, take RIGHT branch of turn onto ISLAND DR.

Go 0.85 miles, past one stop light, continuing until the four-way stop sign at MECARTNEY ROAD. Note the strip mall on right side as you Turn RIGHT onto MECARTNEY RD.

Just a very short way (0.12 miles), turn right at first entrance into the mall off Mecartney.

Opposite the gas station, take the LEFT into part of the parking lot of the mall. (before CVS.) Proceed to the very end of the parking lot.  There is a TEMPLE ISRAEL sign at the very end of the cul-de-sac. It's the low building, dark wood, landscaped. Park as close as you can get.

A short walkway leads from the far back right corner of the lot; the Temple is on the Left of that walkway (a church is on the right).

It sounds more complex than it is. (The Temple's address is 3183 Mecartney Road, but it's not numbered on the Road, so just follow these directions to that parking lot and walkway...)
